A hearty soup that will satisfy
Wash beans and soak overnight in 8 cups of water. Drain, rinse, and place beans into large pot with 6-8 cups fresh water. Add packet of lentils/split peas at this time. Bring to a rapid boil for 5 minutes, then turn down to medium, place lid on the pot, and cook until tender (generally 90 minutes). When the beans are tender, add spice packet. Simmer until ready to serve.
Black, red and white beans, lentils, split peas. Bold flavor, though not hot. Beans need to be soaked.
